Likes:

[/li][li]Beer isn’t an unknown drink for this guy. He is especially fond of the Dutch brands, but has nothing against for example Belgian, German and Danish beers.
[/li][li]Lars smokes and can’t get through the day without his beloved nicotine. He occasionally also smokes something else than just cigarettes.

Dislikes:
- Being ordered around. Lars likes to be in charge. He will respect orders he gets from the higher ups, but will mostly just do what he thinks is right for the situation.
- Losing someone close to him. Not something anyone would enjoy, but due to Lars’ rocky relationship with his family, he has become afraid to lose people he loves.
- Thieves. He is very protective of everything he owns.
- Disrespect. Lars is a very proud individual, and if you touch his dignity, you will have to face the consequences.
- Spending a lot of money. Ever heard of the expression “going Dutch”?
Personality:
Lars is not a person you want to mess with. Being tall, muscular and straight-faced, he often comes across as rather intimidating. He never had a problem with this himself, as it kept away the people he didn’t want to deal with. He is very direct in both words and actions to the point people might consider him as rude. He doesn’t speak a lot though, only when it’s necessary. In his opinion, actions say more than words.
You wouldn’t say it at first, but once you get to know him, he’s a good guy. There aren’t many that get close to him though, due to his cold and distant attitude. There aren’t many willing to make the effort to push past his uncaring exterior, but those who manage to get a place in this guy’s heart, have a good friend.
What many people wouldn’t expect from him either, is that he has a weak spot for cute things, like animals and young women. He has a pet rabbit, though it didn’t join him on his trip.
Despite that he is usually a bit distant, when he’s had a few he opens up considerably. He likes to drink every now and then, his favourite alcoholic beverage being beer.
History:
Lars grew up in the Netherlands. The winter is definitely his favourite season, and every year, he would look forward to the day the first snow would fall. Though even more than the snow, Lars liked the ice. He learned how to skate at a young age and has been very fond of it since. Every winter he would search out various skating rinks and frozen lakes. Even in the summer he would go skating whenever possible, though sadly that was considerably less than in the winter.
He is also a masseur. Lars acquired this skill to get rid of muscle aches he got after being a bit to enthusiastic in skating, and not resting soon enough. He practiced on friends and family, which didn’t mind his new talent. Once he got good at it, that is. He tended to be a little to rough in the beginning.
Lars has a little sister. Their relationship is not as good as what it used to be, which saddens the Dutchman. If he could, he would fix their relationship, though it’s a bit more complicated, since the Dutch is not all that good with emotions. He is pretty protective of her, and likes to make sure she’s okay.
He likes to travel, though doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on things like that. So he looks for a job at the place he is. Currently, he is at Resort Du Lucerne. He teaches ice skating, and also gives massages at the resort. In his free time, he is a guest at the resort. The work he does pays for his room and other things. Which is pretty nice, since he doesn’t mind the work, really.
On one of his travels, Lars met Antonio, in Spain. Antonio had been working at Resort Du Lucerne for a while already and when he heard Lars would be coming to the Alps, he offered him to share a room. Lars agreed, taking the chance to save money. He doesn’t have the best relationship with Antonio, but decided he would deal with it.
Roleplay Sample:
Lars looked out over the frozen water. His lips curved in a small smiles as he saw all the people on skates. Some of them gliding skilfully over the ice, others struggling to stay upright. It was an amusing sight to look at. It wasn’t as if he was laughing at the pain of others. Well, maybe just a bit. But mostly it was just the fact that he couldn’t imagine how it would be not to be able to skate. It wasn’t all that hard once you started, though some people just couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. The Dutchman had been doing it for so long already, it was a little weird. But hey, he got paid to teach people the art of skating, so he wasn’t complaining.
Right now, Lars had to teach a small group of people how to skate. He never taught more than five people at a time. Mostly they were families who were on a holiday here in the mountains. Though sometimes groups of teenagers who decided to go on a trip together.
It was a family this time. A mother, a father and their six year old girl. The parents could manage themselves on the ice, though only barely. That was just a matter of practice. It was the kid that needed lessons mostly. She was pretty cute, he noted. But that is kind of a given when dealing with kids.
The Dutchman had dragged a small, old chair outside. He put it onto the ice and slid it up to the young girl. She was just big enough to reach the top of the chair and cling to it, as Lars instructed the girl. “Just put one foot in front of the other and slide the chair forward.” He told her. It looked a bit ridiculous to drag a chair across the ice, maybe, but it was a good method to learn. This way she would have something to hold onto, and wouldn’t fall on the hard ice right away. Once she got the hang of it, they could try without the chair.
As he slowly glided beside the girl, he wrapped his scarf a little tighter around his neck. When he was barely moving like this, it really was cold here. Though he shrugged the thought off. When he was done with working, he could warm himself up by doing a bit of speed skating. And hot chocolate with marshmallows would take care of the rest after that.
